Valentines. To celebrate or not

This is all bluntremi's fault. Blunremis valentines day gift ideas for men Valentines day is usually an anti climax in our house. I expect loads, I get disappointed as I get an afterthought bunch of flowers and I give a card/shirt/watch etc. Don't get me wrong, he does love me, I think.

Reading another of my fav blogs today, pilgrimage to self, I decided I was not unhappy with my life but not ecstatic either as I am definitely not where I thought I would be. Nobodys fault but mine, so I need to do something about it sharpish. Anyway, I digress.

So this year, I decided to give Valentines day a miss. I decided to truly forget about if and have zero expectations. I was doing quite well until, bluntremi's post in her blog and now I have too much to do and too little time to get my DH anything that requires the level of thought Remi expects me to put into the gifts. I did say I might get a teach yourself lapdancing/poledancing tape with seven veils but I have a long term houseguest!

Do you think I should go all out and make an effort or should I be the grinch who stole valentines and ignore it for the overcommercialised tosh it has become. Or is that just sour grapes?? Off to bed, nothing a visit to the land of Nod won’t make look better in the morning.

Don't be silly! Of course you can't pretend to forget Valentine's day. Not with all the shops filled with Val's day displays. One gift I gave hubby was a home made voucher book to claim all sorts of items from 'TV programme overide' to naughtier stuff. Just go to your printer, design, print then package. It's homemade, personal, romantic, useful and cheap (ish) all in one. The perfect gift for the man who has everything or appreciates nothing!

my new motto no expectations, no disappointments. i have always gone all out on valentines day but what i get in return. u will laugh i think i got a card a teddy bear, dinner n movies. n the yr b4 3cards. at least he remembered ey.

what did he get?
last yr, i woke up early , left the house so he wouldn't wake up to me at home. i had the nanny give the girls a card to give to him when he woke up. he went to work, n when he got off, there was a card on his windscreen with instructions to look in his trunk. in there is one of his suits and shoes wiv a tie. in the suit jacket is another card that clues him as to where to find me in a riddle form ( i really pushed it withthat one cos he almost couldn't figure out the riddle but he did eventually. he gets to the place, its a mariner. there is another card waiting for him at the door which gives him a table number. pretty much its a candle lit dinner on a cruising boat. after wards, i had an hotel rm booked 4 the nite.

the yr br, he got home from work, and on the floor at the entrance is a trail of petals that leads all the way upstairs to the bathroom. the jacuzzi is filled with nice hot water n more rose petals, there is a glass of wine and a plate of chocolate covered straawberries n a card that tells him how long to stay in the tub. there is another trail of petals waiting that leads him to the bed room where i set up a table with dinner 4 two by candle light with me waiting in a nice lingerie. u wont belive tha after we were done eating, we both climbed in bed n fell asleep.

so this yr. i ain't planning a darn thing. if he can't step up to the plate then too bad. i think i have set up the bar n when is he ever gonna get creative n outdo me? shoo, i am done. i just hope i get atleast sex this yr.

Ladies when you have spoilt your Iyawi for 364 days of the year already then Valentines day is just another day of undying love and such. I am sure Iyawo would back me up on this if not for the fact that she is currenlty not speaking to me.

@ Omara. I still intend to forget sha. I saw a similar voucher book in Borders. In fact I bought it years ago and not sure where I put them.

@SNM. Definitely no expectations. We were due to go a couples dinner thing at church but DH has cancelled. So I am sitting tight andnot planning a thing. Your previous celebrations were ace. Great imagination. LOL at sleeping after eating. Just don't feed him before sex so he doesn't fall asleep again. You can feed him after, but he might fall asleep as well!

@toks-boy. So you are in the doghouse? I am sure undying love and such could have saved you. so own up :) You have a lot of making up to do. Best get planning

going to do what i want to do. Doesnt sound like much, but with new baby in the house, its huge for me
Dinner & Cinema - nothing much.
Only do things for me now. cant forget effort i made with our first valentine as a married couple. The nurses outfit is still locked away as it brings back memories of the laughter i got from my DH. His loss, as i take delight in reminding him :-). LOL
